Curation Note

The Tasting

A guided note in three moments, by our curators

  1. Appearance & Nose

    01

Villa di Geggiano presents a Chianti Classico 2018 rooted in the terroir of Castelnuovo Berardenga, at 320 meters above sea level, with soil blending sand, silt, clay, and stony skeleton, facing south and southeast. This 100% Sangiovese, from 15-year-old vines trained in Guyot, highlights meticulous attention in the cellar: from destemming and gentle crushing, through pre-fermentative cold maceration and wise use of natural yeasts, to a 16-day fermentation at 28°C in steel, followed by malolactic fermentation and a long aging of at least 18 months in 500-liter French oak tonneaux, with 10% new wood contributing to its structure.

  2. Palate & Finish

    02

In the glass, it displays a beautiful intense ruby color, promising complexity and depth on the nose, while on the palate it reveals a wine of character, with its 14.5% alcohol content underscoring its generosity.

  3. At the Table

    03

It is a Chianti Classico that pairs magnificently with succulent dishes such as grilled Florentine steak, braised wild boar, or a richly flavored ragu.
